Week #1 Show Teaser Welcome To Tulip

Bankrupt and desperate, the artsy town of Tulip's only hope for more tourist dollars is a teaser video that gets hijacked by its own maintenance man looking for a chance to shine.

Synopsis

WELCOME TO TULIP is loosely based on this team’s personal experiences under the picturesque prairie skies in a quirky hamlet with lots of heart called Rosebud, AB. The creators affinity for Rosebud spurred the inspiration for the fictitious town of Tulip. Follow the eccentric and at times semi-incompetent people of Tulip as they struggle to pull their oddball theatre out of a mounting 2 million dollar debt. The blend of easy likability, gag density and heartwarming consistency of character create a gut-busting ensemble that feels like neighbours you (never) wished you had. Our three key creators will unite the zany, beauty, 'n Boom-Shack-A-Lack as they take you on a satisfying adventure.

Team

Giovanni Mocibob's Profile Image

Giovanni Mocibob

Talent, Director

Who doesn’t love a brilliant storyteller? Well, Gio's the next great Canadian star. You may have seen him on the stage or screen and as usual he will bring his effervescent heart and physical comedy chops to Riccardo DiBankaba. Who can play the cute town weirdo better than the once cute town weirdo? He also brings his strengths in communicating story behind the the camera.

Holly Pillsbury's Profile Image

Holly Pillsbury

Showrunner, Talent

Holly's the outrageously passionate bossypants of the group. Her imagination's just plain crazy and her ability to generate memorable sketch is a stamp she loves to wear on her pasty white forehead. She may have beauty 'n brains, but her best asset is making life the biggest running joke. Plus, she will play town IT girl Jackie Cassidy with a whip cracking sense of humour.

Aaron Krogman's Profile Image

Aaron Krogman

Editor, Writer

To balance out the pure insanity is filmmaker and writer Aaron Krogman. His ease with generating plot points, streamlining story, and Rosie nominated writing talent has brought him to the Alberta big leagues. Well as big as you can get without digging for oil. His multifaceted talents will be an asset considering he's also a professional actor, musician, and our editor.

So looking at all these projects on this site this one stands out in production value and humour. To all of you naysayers who criticize this for being too much like Corner Gas, so no one else is allowed to entertain us with small town hyjinx? Canada has many small towns all with different stories fictional or otherwise.

It looks like this has some potential - my only issue so far is that while I would watch a whole show with that character, I'm not sure if I would be able to handle him at the helm of every episode of a series. He makes me think of 'Hank' from Corner Gas - a funny character and ripe full of situations and dialogue to laugh away at, but he needs a Brent, Wanda, or Lacey to bounce off of.

Aside from the nearly faceless person he talks with, who else populates the town of Tulip? It sounds like a place full of characters; I would very much like to meet them!
