Week #1 Show Teaser The Stuff of Things

In this episode of The Stuff of Things, we highlight research warning us that dogs are slowing overtaking humanity as the dominant species on Earth. We ask, are dogs man's best friend? Or are they really man's best fiend?

Synopsis

The Stuff of Things is more accurately a "mockumentary" series that uses the authoritative voice of a television documentary to play-out ridiculous comedic premises.

It's a long form parody sketch show that follows "experts" and "real people", exploring topics that they "really care about" from multiple angles. We pack in as many jokes as possible while making you feel like you might have actually learned something.

Whether it's silly, satirical, sardonic, or some other stuff, it will always be side-splittingly super cheap to produce!

Liked the documentary style to the show but it was really slow. Got a few laughs but would really like to see more. Hope you make it to the next round.

Not a lot of yuk-yuks in this clip, but the video is beautiful. Lovely colour. Interesting format. Too bad I don't get a sense of where the humour will happen.

The world is full of stuff. And things. We need The Stuff of Things to help us learn what cannot be understood without knowing...or something like that.

I like the idea - but unfortunately I think it would be better as a segment of a larger sketch-comedy show. I like taking a funny or absurd concept and dragging it out with serious consideration, but I think it would be hard to watch beyond a one-off 22-minute special, especially as a weekly series.

Keep making these, though, as I think it could excell as a web-based series, or like I said, as a cornerstone sketch for a larger sketch-comedy programme.

This was the first pitch that actually made me laugh - and it's a legitimately sustainable idea for a television series.

Good luck - I hope you guys can go forward with it!
