Synopsis

Toronto-born South Asian Rani and her 4 half children live in the last White neighbourhood in the most multicultural city in the world! The BEACH! Rani has to deal with her WASPY ex- mother in law, her fouled mouth, sari clad Indian mother, peri menopause, her gay ex-husband,White people drinking Smoothies,her kids (teenage Larry Davids), her Jamaican academic boss who she's in love with (married). So what's her problem? She wants a series on HBO. But as her agent the wealthy Indian born Iraqi Jew Samuel P Moses explains,her sitcom violates all the rules of what is acceptable in “ethnic” comedy in Canada. Ah well. She's stuck in the Beach.Its against her race but...she better buy a dog.

Doris likes comedy because she thinks it's funny. When she was a teenager she was invited to audition for Second City after producers saw her act in a comedic role in a play, but she declined because her father wouldn't let her. She got pissed off, so she did human rights work instead.Then she returned to do Doris Does Damage and now she produces, writes and makes films.

Erick Nettel

Erick is the Managing Partner and Creative Producer at Nettel Media Inc. Prior to it, he had a long & successful career at OMNI Television, where he was Senior Producer of Diversity Programming. Erick currently serves corporate clients and has developed pilot projects. As an avid DOP he has shot several documentaries, such as The R Word, Re-Inventing Destiny, etc.

Bren Eastcott

Talent, Writer

Bren Eastcott began her acting career at 12 where she had a principle role in The Ron Clark Story starring Matthew Perry. She graduated from Etobicoke School of the Arts. On TV Bren has appeared on; How to be Indie, The Latest Buzz, Z-Squad and Degrassi - The Next Generation. She is also an emerging filmmaker, with short films to her credit and scripts in the making!

Super funny. I love the little dialogue snippets in the background. Dying to see the hilarious Doris Rajan play multiple characters.
