Synopsis

A mockumentary following an aspiring actor who struggles to “break-in” after he continually finds himself in the hands of the same useless director on every job he books.

With small town ambition, Ben moves to the big city to follow his “Canadian Hollywood” dreams, despite his family’s disapproval and dwindling bank account. He is quickly thrust into a world of self-absorbed, deluded and eccentric characters that begin to pick away at his patience. Making matters worse, he is followed by the same megalomaniac director Keith Weinstein. Keith, who uses nepotism to his advantage, takes great joy in putting Ben in the most uncomfortable situations. It's "The Office" meets "Made in Canada."

Team

Matthew Manuge's Profile Image

Matthew Manuge

Director, Writer

Being the son of an insurance salesman, it’s safe to say Matthew Manuge knows a thing or two about comedy….well, sort of.

Matthew is an accomplished producer/director/writer who recently released a 13-part television series, Free-Loading, which became Bite TV's highest rated original series. Before his blatant Tosh.0 rip-off, Matthew dabbled in directing for TV/Sketch.

Ben Gulka's Profile Image

Ben Gulka

Talent, Writer

I was part of the ensemble cast of The Outsiders. That same year I appeared in All the Right Moves and Risky Business, which has been described as "A Generation X classic, and a career-maker for Me", and which, along with 1986's Top Gun, cemented my status as a superstar.
...Sorry that was Tom Cruise...
I've mostly done some commercials, comedy sketches and some film.

Evan Cooper's Profile Image

Evan Cooper

Talent, Writer

An award-winning screenwriter and mediocre actor, Evan Cooper graduated Queen's University with a degree in politics. Of course it was only natural that he disappoint his parents after graduation, when he decided to work in film. Things have been terrible ever since.

If you have sold so many scripts and films in the past, then why not pursue getting this show made through other avenues? Get a meeting with a broadcaster and pitch it that way?

I'm not quite sure i like the concept... i don't get why the director would be involved in every project the actor is in... the acting is good tho.
