Synopsis

A serial, meta-soap opera recorded in front of a live audience in Prince Rupert, "Digby Towers" is set in a coastal port city in the not-too-distant future. In this pre-industrial wasteland, formerly-rural residents adjust to newly-cosmopolitan lifestyles as heavy industry makes the economy swell. Despite a skyrocketing population and epic housing shortages, Digby Towers remains (mostly) empty. Its conniving owner, Priscilla, is bent on establishing her dominion from the sub-basement to the penthouse. She and her husband, the dimwitted elevator operator Randy, hatch a series of schemes to rid themselves of the last tenacious tenant: Doug, who was conceived, born and raised on the 17th floor.

Team

Jeff Bill's Profile Image

Jeff Bill

Talent, Writer

Born and raised in Prince Rupert BC. Sort of a big deal, but I don't like to brag. I once crowd surfed at a Bare Naked Ladies concert.

David Smook's Profile Image

David Smook

Producer, Writer

I have been involved in performance for over 20 years. I began an off-fringe fringe like festival 16 years ago and have written directed produced and performed in numerous zany shows such as 'Hot Judge Sundae', 'Stab in the Dark', and 'Aquatic Hee-Haw'. I like quiet walks on the beach and the gentle sounds of pounding techno music.

Leah Jowe's Profile Image

Leah Jowe

Talent, Director

Leah achieved regional stardom in her role as "Bleeding Whore #3" in northwest BC's much-vaunted stage version of Les Miserables. She is a native of Prince Rupert, and has balanced her professional work in the financial sector with film credits in such productions as "Airliner Crash Simulation" and "Port Edward: 50 Years of Fish Processing." She also enjoys handmade dolls.

As someone who enjoyed this show as a part of the live studio audience, I have to say that this show had me in stitches throughout the whole thing. The only time I wasn't laughing was when I was taking in a breath so I could laugh more.

This looks like it has huge potential. Lots of room for possibilities with a sitcom set in an apartment building. No real limit to cast or characters.

I saw the production, it was wonderful. Jeff Bill was sexy. David is insane as the human elevator. And of course, Digby Towers is a real place, with unusual humans, situated near an unusual harbor, harboring the usual ill feelings created by LNG dreams and mill smoke. Rock on!

I loved it. In a small town like ours one knows the actors in real life, so you know they are great actors when you see them in the roles on the stage.
