As the #UBERFAN for CBC Comedy Coup's #BigDeal event on Saturday, December 6, I am extremely excited to be part of the advisory panel that will be listening to and evaluating the Final 5 pitches!

It's going to be a tough decision and I do not envy CBC ComedyCoup for the choice they have to make. The five teams left are very talented and funny. They have shown their dedication and determination to produce quality projects week after week and I am looking forward to each team’s final pitch and presentation.

In the next couple of days I will be focusing on reviewing the Top 5 teams’ previous missions that they have submitted in the weeks leading up to now. I plan on watching all videos and reading through comments left by other superfans, to help me better understand each team that is eyeing that $500k in production financing and their own prime time special.

For me, the past nine weeks have been an exciting time. I have watched a ton of very funny videos and a few that were just not up to par. I have been amazed at how much great talent there is across this huge country. Each week the teams turned in top notch submissions on very little time and very small budgets.

I personally have made contact with teams all across the country, from British Columbia right to Newfoundland. I got to meet teams either personally, on the phone, or via the internet. For example, in the Week 8 Roast mission, I did a phone cameo with Geoff and the Ninja, and also had a part in the Wharf Rats’ video as a heckler in the crowd. I personally met the Wharf Rats for the first time when they invited me to their live internet broadcast of their Kitchen Party for the Week 7 #HypeIt mission event! Matt Falk from How to do Everything GOODER has sent me his stand-up comedy CD. I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie and Yoni on a recent trip to Toronto, and they gave me a pair of their famous heart-shaped sunglasses. The WingMom team dedicated a song to me at their #HypeIt event as well. Along with these interactions, I also took part in quite a few teams’ live internet feeds and Twitter parties for the #HypeIt event mission week.

I've met two of the top 5 teams, Wharf Rats and Charlie and Yoni. This coming weekend I'm looking forward to meeting the teams of Dépflies, Graham Clark: Wilderness Man, and HumanTown. It's going to be an exciting weekend ahead with many laughs and a very big decision to be made. I’m looking forward to having a great time – best of luck to the TOP 5 teams!
