Synopsis

Campus Law is a wild ride following three friends that have found the perfect way to keep living the crazy college life after graduation.Taking the expression "stay in school" a little too literally, Robby Gilroy, Quincy Fox and Tag Truman decide to work as security guards at their former campus. Wanting to fit in with the students but also demanding that their authority be respected, they constantly get themselves into situations of debauchery and "power" abuse.

The show incorporates dynamic on-screen graphics and sound effects that offer glimpses into the minds of these characters. Simply put, Campus Law brings the college experience to life in a way you've never seen before.

Samuel Brisson

Producer, Talent

Samuel developed an interest for cinema while studying in Dubai. This led to an education at Concordia University, where he learned film production, screenwriting, and acting. He has since produced a few award-winning short films. He works as a cinematographer, cameraman, and editor on various projects such as short films, music videos, ads, and corporate videos.

Ryan George

Writer, Talent

Ryan studied film, screenwriting and acting at Concordia University. With a deep love for comedy, Ryan spends his time writing scripts and performing stand-up. His spec script for FOX's "New Girl" was recently runner-up in the LA Comedy Shorts Festival writing competition, and his work has been featured on popular sites such as CollegeHumor, Funny or Die and more.

Brandon Calder

Director, Talent

Brandon studied screenwriting, film and acting at Vanier College. With a great love for directing and writing, Brandon wrote and directed his first short film in 2013. While his film nears completion, Brandon continues to direct music videos for local Canadian artists and write scripts he hopes to bring into production in the near future.

I think this video contains all that is needed to learn and appreciate just what these guys wish to accomplish with the Campus Law project. Give them a chance to perform even further in the Top 15 and they are gonna knock your socks off....Watch out !

I watched the three weeks to get a feel for your idea. Seems like each gag is presented with each trying a little too hard to be funny. Humour is forced. Some smiles for me still found within.

Let me preface this by saying that your videos are well done and people like them, and that's really what's most important. That said, we're encouraged to offer some constructive criticism this week so here goes:
Every year successful shows emerge that are only slightly different than successful shows we've previously seen. Is there something drastically different about Campus Law? So far, I don't think we've seen that. Whether that's a good thing or a bad one is a matter of opinion.
You're following the tried-and-true Child-Robot-Animal three-character comedy archetype, in a setting that lies somewhere in Superbad/Old School/Mall Cop territory.
When asked what differentiates your show you point to someone else's cinematography style (Edgar Wright, who borrowed from Sam Raimi), and talk about an overlay mechanic similar to what BBC's Sherlock series employs.
When you get to the pitch stage, when speaking of originality and differentiation you may want to shift your focus on to something that is more your own, or perhaps on the fact that it's the unique combination of these elements that makes it original. Keep up the good work.

CBC’s ComedyCoup competition is in full swing, shining the spotlight on hundreds of funny people across the country. Comedy teams apply to the competition with a trailer for their proposed project, and Canada gets to vote on who the winner of $500 000 and a half-hour comedy special should be.

When the CBC ComedyCoup competition was announced earlier this year, hundreds of team from across Canada submitted their pitches and teaser trailers in the hopes of winning the grand $500,000 prize and seeing their project turned into a half hour special in autumn, 2015. Over a 10-week period that started at the beginning of October, the teams advance on ComedyCoup’s fan-fuelled social web platform, by creating fresh content to package their projects and engage fan support. Now, the competition is down to the top 55 and four of those entries are from Montreal.
